Is a wedding breakfast always three courses?

No, sometimes it’s just two courses but it can be a magnificent six courses! The ‘Your Wedding Menu’ section of our website outlines all the different courses available to make your wedding breakfast truly sensational.

What does the ‘price per head’ include?

At Jenkinsons we operate a straightforward pricing policy so that you have a clear understanding of your wedding catering costs right from the start.  Our published prices are always ‘price per head’ and we try very hard to include as much as we possibly can for you within that price, as detailed on our ‘What’s Included’ webpage.

How can I pay?

You can pay by BACS, online bank transfer or over the phone using a debit or credit card. Our bank details and your unique reference number will be included in any correspondence we send out to you.

Can I offer my guests a choice?

In most cases, as the Bride & Groom you will decide what you’d like to be served at your wedding breakfast and all your guests will be served the same menu. We’ll always cater for any vegetarian guests separately of course, and any guests with specific dietary requirements.

By prior arrangement with us, when issuing wedding invitations you can opt to offer guests a limited choice; either a chicken or beef dish for the main course for example. You can offer a choice on all three courses if desired.  Your guests are required to highlight their choices on the RSVP we would strongly recommend you make a note of their individual choices on the back of their place name card.  That way, if on your wedding day they’ve forgotten what they picked, our serving staff can advise them to have a quick peek on the back of their place name card!

Are speeches always at the end of the meal?

Traditionally speeches are at the end of the wedding breakfast but they don’t have to be, sometimes if the best man is particularly nervous about delivering his speech, the couple might opt to have speeches first.  In our experience, your speakers will find they have a much more receptive audience if the speeches are held after dinner; we tend to find that guests enjoy the speeches far more and give more rousing applause after they’ve been fed and watered!

Will I get to taste the food before my wedding day?

Most of the wedding venues that we work with host Tasting Days which are a fabulous opportunity for you get to try the food. Please visit our Tasting Days webpage for full information.

Can I make my own wedding cake?

Yes. We understand that a wedding cake is something truly special and that you’ll either commission a specialist baker or try your hand at making your own.  We are happy for you to supply your own wedding cake and our catering staff will cut it into fingers and serve it at a pre-arranged point during your evening reception. Don’t forget to tell us if you’d like to save the top tier or if one layer is to be served first.

When do we cut the cake?

It is a good idea to wait until any additional evening guests have arrived before cutting the cake, that way they feel involved in the wedding celebrations. If you gather all your guests around to watch you cut your wedding cake at around 8pm, it means you can go straight into your First Dance after cutting the cake, without needing to gather guests together again.

Can I supply vintage china for the tea and coffee?

Yes, that’s no problem just discuss your plans at your Private Consultation. We’ll need to know if the vintage cups and saucers are just decorative favours or if you’d like us to pour the tea and coffee into them.  If you’d like them to be used, then we won’t set out our cups and saucers when we lay the tables. Please be aware that we will be unable to wash your vintage cups and saucers.

Can I supply my own Cheese Tower?

You are very welcome to supply your own cheese tower. Whether you choose to serve it as a cheese course at the end of the meal or as your evening buffet, our staff will plate the cheese and we’ll provide all the crockery, cutlery, condiments and crackers for you at very reasonable rates. We are also happy to supply the cheese tower for you, please don’t hesitate to discuss your requirements with us.

When do I have to decide on my menu?

You can change your wedding menu selections up to 21 days before your wedding date, please visit our Timeline for a detailed breakdown of what catering decisions need to be made when.

Can I provide my own evening buffet?

We want your guests to enjoy every moment of your wedding; we work with you to ensure any dietary requirements are catered for and that Health and Hygiene Standards are maintained at all times, which is why we can’t accommodate any request for you to provide the evening buffet.
